ILWACO - It was the opening game for the Ilwaco girls' basketball team, but they looked in mid-season form as they defeated Naselle 64-37 in a non-league game at home Tuesday. The Comets fell to 1-3 with the loss.
Four Lady Fishermen were in double figures and all nine varsity girls scored for the winners as they went up 18-5 at the end of the first period and were never headed. Mid-way through the third quarter Ilwaco's lead had swelled to 41-20. Vallori Crowston led all scorers with 13 points and she added 11 assists for a double-double. Ashley Tapio in her first varsity start and Alexa Wirkkala and Cameo Ulbricht each added 10 points for the Lady Fishermen.
