ILWACO - "Jack Whealdon had a great game," Coach Kip Meinhardt said as Whealdon poured in 25 points, dished out four assists, snagged five steals and garnered six rebounds and Karl Oman added 20 points as Ilwaco ran past Holy Cross of Surrey, BC 69-49 here Friday.
In the early going the game looked like it would be a blow out, but the winner appeared to be the Crusaders as they piled up a 21-9 lead early in the second period. "We started out pressing them and they were able to break it and get layins," Meinhardt explained. "When we went to an active 2-3 zone (in the second quarter) we got several steals and some easy transition baskets and we were on our way."
